Japan Stocks Higher at Close of Trade; Nikkei 225 Up 0.20%

Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the MiningChemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Steel sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.20%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (TYO:9009), which rose 7.76% or 396.00 points to trade at 5,500.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:4506) added 4.60% or 22.00 points to end at 499.90 and Inpex Corp. (TYO:1605) was up 4.52% or 96.00 points to 2,219.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (TYO:4568), which fell 4.61% or 186.00 points to trade at 3,849.00 at the close. NGK Insulators, Ltd. (TYO:5333) declined 3.55% or 66.50 points to end at 1,805.00 and Keio Corp. (TYO:9008) was down 2.74% or 122.00 points to 4,333.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2438 to 1195 and 217 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 4.43% to 21.90.

Crude oil for December delivery was up 1.93% or 1.65 to $87.09 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 1.72% or 1.55 to hit $91.45 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.75% or 14.55 to trade at $1,950.25 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.05% to 149.73, while EUR/JPY fell 0.06% to 158.38.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 105.94.
