Xi Jinping Goes to Moscow to Meet Putin, What’s Up?


Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping meeting in Beijing in February 2022 before Moscow invaded Ukraine.


Beijing – Chinese President Xi Jinpingreportedly plans to visit Russia in person and meet President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Xi’s planned visit will reportedly take place in the “next few months”.


As reported by CNN , Wednesday (22/2/2023), Xi’s planned visit to Moscow was disclosed by the leading United States (US) media, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), which cited a number of sources familiar with the planned visit in its report on Tuesday (21 /2) local time.

According to sources cited by the WSJ in their report, arrangements for Xi’s visit are still in the “early stages” and a time has yet to be officially set.

However, it was also stated that Xi could possibly travel to Russia in April or early May.

Russia’s state-run news agency, TASS , also cited the WSJ report in its article entitled ‘Xi Jinping may visit Russia in the coming months’.

It also stated in the WSJ report that according to sources familiar with the details of the planned visit, Xi intends to push for multi-party peace talks, also reiterating that the use of nuclear weapons is unacceptable.
